A BIT OF BACKGROUND
Now that I am a whole 2 and a half weeks into running my own business I thought I’d take the chance to explain a little bit about why I am doing this.
Firstly I needed a challenge and this will certainly be a challenge! I have spent the last 7 and a half years working with The Football League Trust and have enjoyed working with some great people, however my role had become too removed from the good stuff – actually helping people and organisations to develop. I want to get back to feeling and knowing that I am making a positive impact. Equally I want to work across sport and not just focus on football.
I know that people do things like this all the time and it’s not that big a deal, however for someone like me who is pretty averse to putting everything on the line, well, it is quite a big deal… Any geeks like me who studied sport at school might remember from psychology 101 that there are supposedly nach (need to achieve) and naf (need to avoid failure) types of people. I think we probably all like to think of ourselves as being nach but whether or not I set out to be I have definitely become more naf (cue sniggers) and I have decided that’s not who I want to be.
So please wish me luck or perhaps as a newly fledged each-type I should say – just watch me go!
